I want to fit 3 point inertia reel belts in the back of my camper. At the mo I have a pair of 2 point lap straps which are anchored to the angled panel beneath the bench seat.
My question is can I fit the 3 point utilising the existing holes of the lap straps and by drilling one more hole on the same angled panel to locate the inertia reel? The shoulder belt would then go up from the reel behind the backrest and then over it before coming down across the passenger's body to lock in the buckle as before.
I've looked at the wiki but that just describes fitting the reel behind the trim panels which is difficult on the non-cupboard side and impossible on the cupboard side!
Has anyone tried it this way? I know it won't be as secure as the conventional C Pillar shoulder mounted strap but it's an improvement on the simple lap strap.
Opinions/lessons learned appreciated.

We end had two lap belt and one thriple on the non cup-board side (all from JK). The triple point inertia unit we had on the outside of the panel in the boot. Getting my mechanic to take the pannel etc to pieces would have been expensive. He just bolted through to the side panel, not sure how exactly. There was a good picture someone else had the same as us but seem to have gone now, or on my work favorites.
To protect it I've built a wooden frame/case round the base unit and the seat belt up to just below the window.
If it would help I'd do you some photo's.
I've also seen one van in the flesh that had two thriple point belts in the back but they had two metal bars from floor to ceiling where the sholder level and inertios unit attached to. Surprisingly didn't interfere with the bed. Was a Holdsworth. Bit ugly but pretty good. Seen photo of someone else with two with one anchored to a shaped metal bar thorugh the cupboard.
