Looking to replace the full exhaust system on my 1990 2.1L (petrol) Westy. Based on horror stories I have heard I am going to get an ex VW (main dealer) mechanic at a local garage to do it as I can't afford for the van to be off the road if I hit problems doing it myself. I have used this garage a couple of times but just wanted an idea how long it should take if all goes well, plus how long putting any problems right could take. My van has a lamder seser fitted which would also need to be welded into the full Just Kampers system.
Cheers, Steve
Time to change a full exhaust system

hi mate.....have you considered going stainless? Ok - more £££££ I know....but lifetime warrenty and all that. May only get a few years out of the JK system.
If its a FULL system, maybe worth considering....

if all goes well it should not take him more than a couple of hrs i changed mine in about 4 hrs to ss but bear in mind the ss has more joints and i was lying on the ground in & out up and down 50 times looking for spaners bolts nuts etc if he has a lift its less of a problem

It all depends on those head studs.......everything else is being replaced so can be cut/burned off but if he snaps a head stud.....thats when the fun starts.
He will have a definate advantage if he can warm them up (well make them glow) first with a gas rig.
Figers crossed

I also had a JK full exhaust system fitted about this time last year before my big trip to Germany. The engine had to come out as the nuts were solid and stuck fast
Needless to say I didn't do this...................
I think next time I need an exhaust I will go for a nice stainless steel number.
