brake light switch

Post by dublemel »

can anybody tell me the best way to fit a new brake light switch . I've fitted a new one from GSF but it doesn't want to work. occasional flash. do I definitely have to bleed whole system ( a mate said I didn't) or have I just done something silly ? wouldn't be the first time ! could I have screwed it in too tight ? any suggestions gratefully received .

kind regards Mel

Did you have the brake peddle pressed down when you changed it?
Doing that often stops air getting into the system. Some of the G/S switches can be iffy, try bridging the connections and see how quick they light up.
I was washing the car, when it fell off!!!!!!

Got it sorted . went to a different GSF to the one I got the first switch from . v. helpful guy told me they'd had lots of faulty units in all shops . he'd even e-mailed head office about them . He gave me a replacement switch even though I didn't have receipt with me . got home put it in worked straight away. :D :D :D
