whats the size of the steering wheel nut?

Post by retropeck »

hi there,

new to the forum.

does anyone know the overall & thread size of the nut that holds the steering wheel on? its off a 1982 t25 if they differ at all, I know its the same size as the one on my 1976 type2 as ive been having to switch between the 2 after i managed to loose one (muppet!)

cheers,
alex.

30mm according to the wiki http://wiki.80-90.co.uk/index.php/Gener ... nd_torques

I have a vague memory of using a 28mm though.
, you can use a large adjustable spanner vertical with moll grips on the shaft to get some torque on it if you haven't the socket.
