Campsites SW Wales

Post by FlowerPower »

We're going to spend a couple of weeks touring West and South West Wales at the end of the month. We don't normally book sites, but just check out what happens to be local and stay there for 2 or 3 nights then move on. Sometimes though, the sites are utter s**t and I spend most of the day looking for somewhere half decent.

I would like a few backup sites in case we're stuck. So, any recommendations? Preferably quiet with good views. Facilities are unimportant.

Ta!

Hi Flower

A field we get to at least two or three times a year, more if poss. Where time can slow down. Has views, beaches, atmosphere, and remarkably short of the now usually universal standard issue Britscum. Has two discreet toilets with a tap. Wash in the sea. No power, hooray, no tellies glowing, just hanging out till asleep. From Pembroke town go south to Bosherston. Bear left to Broad Haven following brown signs to "lilly Ponds". Just before beach NT car park see farm house with duck pond on right. Its Trefalen Farm. Go in and ask Laurence or Marcia if you can camp in the bottom field - they`re usually happy for VW bus size down there. Cheap. Take a barbie or fire on legs so not to burn the grass. Enjoy. Walk to Barafundle on a sunny day and wonder if you`re in the med. Don`t tell anyone else.

Check out this:-
http://www.fishguardbay.co.uk/
Great, small, informal site perched on top of a cliff just outside Fishguard. Overlooks the bay, fantastic views.
We've stayed there several times in both a tent and a static caravan and enjoyed it every time.
Must take the van down there sometime
