Is it possible to add extra sockets to our 86 autosleeper? Im thinking and extra 240v socket, an extra 12v(cigarette type) socket and a 12v (2 pin type) socket. Can I fit these and connect them to existing circuits??
I have a bit of electrical experience but thought it was worth seeing if anyone else has done this??
There should be no problem adding extra 12V sockets, If you intend using them all at the same time it would be better to run new wiring back to the battery, including a suitable fuse.
The 240V system can be upgraded in the same way, but 240V in a field is lethal, so be very sure you know what you are doing.

I was thinking of adding one 240v socket and spurring off the existing one which is up by the zig unit. Is it better to fit one adjacent to the fuse board down by the seat kickboard and come off the fuseway itself??
Is it not possible to spur off an existing 12v socket or just safer to run cable back to battery like you said and fit an inline fuse?
re the 12v one take 2 leads from the back of the socket, one lead positive, one lead neg, then just connect them to your next one. this would be correct as its in parallel. dont go the other way!
the 240v one, you cannot just 'come off' the plug socket that is there already. this would be a 'spur off a spur' (because you have only one cable coming from the cons unit (fuse board). if you came from the con unit to another socket that would be fine. AS TONY MENTIONED PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND DONT DO IT IF AT ALL UNSURE!

Running a new 12V skt off the old one is fine UNLESS you intend using them both at the same time!!!
You can draw about 10 amps off a 12V skt, (although most of the plugs and skts that are on sale are poor quality and wont carry that for long) If you parallel up 2 Skts. the original wiring (and fuse) will have to carry the current to both Skts.

While we are on the subject is it poss to change the original autosleeper din socket to a cigarette type fitting? Mine seems to be faulty although there is voltage at the rear and the fuse is ok??

Is it not just extending the circuit coming off the existing socket?? The existing socket comes straight from the consumer unit.
I have seen a few other posts where people have added sockets by extending the circuit
you 'could' do it that way, making it a radial circuit. i cannot at this time remember the mcb capacity or cable rating for this off the top of my head, sorry...
