I reversed the van out of the works car park yesterday evening and as I went to pull forward the rear wheel locked up. A bit of forward and back motion and all was free again.
I removed both brake hubs this morning, expecting to find a brake shoe lining had become unbonded. But No ! The only problem I found was a bent adjuster rod. - The thraded bit of bar with a fork at either end and a star nut in the middle for the take up adjustment.
So I imagine the shoes must have bound up and put a bit of undue force on the bar and as a result it bent.
Anyone else had this problem and is it likely to happen again and should I be worried?
Adjuster has been straightened and is ok and not damaged in any way.
All cleaned up in the hub and new shoes fitted.
The spring clip things which tie the shoe back to the back plate are all there ok.
Everything looked in good shape otherwise.
