Hi, just started my Bus for the first time after a couple of weeks and i now have a very noisy tappet. The guy i bought the bus from said if it was left standing for a while this would happen but after a couple of minutes running it would quieten down... i had it running for 5 mins & it was still noisy. Will it rectify itself just leaving it running or am i gonna have to do something about it!!
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

They don't like standing for too long.
Take it for a spin.
10 miles should do the trick.

It's got a VW motor, a 116.8 cubic inch plant, Michelin tyres, VW suspension, VW shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new RedSquirrel bus or what?

People seem to think that hydraulic tappets are 'dark magic'
They are a couple of pistons, a spring and a ball bearing. Leave the engine standing and the double valve spring will push down on the tappet and drive the oil out of it. It is actually a little pump so once you have oil pressure again, and once it decides that it wants to start acting in the manner designed, it will fill. The only time to worry is when the tappets get
noisier when you are driving.
Make sure you use the 070 filter but if you can't get one, the 021 115 351A will do the trick
