Speedo

Hi all, I am after a bit of advice please, my speedo works but the miles are not clocking up, I assume that something is broken within the speedo itself, as these are hard to come across does anyone know if any other speedo's from the VW range fit / can be used?

worth taking thwe back off and checik the gears havent slipped away from each other or stripped.. or dare I say it, someone has been in there before....
