Alternator Help

Post by Cruz »

Alternator is making a damn annoying whining noise so I've finally decided to change it. van is a 1983 1.9DG with a 65amp alternator.

Just wondering which alternator I need from GSF

90350 ALTERNATOR-65AMP T25 1.9 Petrol 8/85 > 11/90 65.00 Add
90352 ALTERNATOR-65AMP(BOSCH) T25 Diesel & Turbo Diesel 1/86 > 65.00 Add
90356 ALTERNATOR-65AMP T25 1.9 Petrol 8/85 > 11/90 65.00 Add
90385 ALTERNATOR-45AMP T25 Diesel > 7/81 55.00 Add
90419 ALTERNATOR-45AMP T25 1.9 >85 68.00 Add
90422 ALTERNATOR-65AMP T25 1.9 83> 65.00 Add
90425 ALTERNATOR-65AMP(BOSCH) T25 1.9 Petrol 8/85 > 11/90 89.90 Add
90425A ALTERNATOR-65AMP T25 1.9 Petrol 8/85 > 11/90 59.95 Add
90435 ALTERNATOR-90AMP T25 1.9 DF/DG Eng. 86>91 72.00 Add
90445 ALTERNATOR-90AMP T25 1.9 / 2.1 8/82 > 11/90 72.00 Add

I concluded I needed part 90422 and rang GSF. Sadly they have no stock anywhere due to quality issues. Would any other alternator fit an Early T3?? Or should I bite the bullet and get one from JK even though they are £20 dearer?

shaun have you rang round locally? When my starter motor was playing up a few months ago, gsf had none, (again due to quality issues) so i rang a few places in bolton that sell starters and alternators, they did seem to have T25's listed...
Also the guy at gsf in accy told me about some old guy up on altham who breaks T25's....he might have a good second hand one if desperate..

Ooopps I was thinking of Altham

I'd rather have new as I'll probably end up paying a fair bit for a scrapper that may be almost as bas as the one I have

there is a place in Blackburn that does reconditioned ones but I can't for the life of me remember what it is called. They do all the starters and alternators for all the local motor factors

It is around Fort Street area. Can't find it on the web
If I'm passing later I'll have a look

BCC couldn't source me one in the end, just like every other factors in Blackburn and Preston so I took Rob's advice and booked it in to my local auto electrician for a refurb at £35-£45, and done that day
