rear seatbelts where do i get them and will they fit easy

rear seatbelts where do i get them and will they fit easy

need two seatbelts and lap belt for rear of van it used to be a bus so presume they will just bolt in or is that just wishful thinking .who is best to buy from and what can i expect to pay cheers

There,s loads of info on rear seatbelts fitting etc - try the search feature- theres some info on wiki aswell.

I ve been toying with the idea myself - but seems like a bit off a hassel. We just secure the child seat in with string and pritt stick

very old skool have you not heard of zip ties and superglue or are you trying to keep original 80s bus feel :D

i am in the same boat - i have just bought a 1991 hightop with a 3/4 rear bench seat. a couple of conversion garages have told me that fitting 3 point belts is possible, unfortunately both are a long way from my home (Bath/Bristol). Can anyone recommend a garage that specialises in vans / conversions in the Bath Bristol area?

I spoke with my Securon Rep today, I have ordered a lot of rear belts to be delivered in the next few days.
I also spoke with my machine shop, who will be delivering my rear seat belt brackets tomorrow so you can fit a 3 point seat belt to the rear of a van (non cupboard side) in the factory location behind the panel.

Kits should be ready in a week or so.

What about if non-cupboard side has a sliding door? Can I still fit them?

Speak to Don at Don's Panelcraft, top notch bloke, and very knowledgeable about VW camper vans of all sorts... has done up loads of them and helped me out loads.

They will still fit.

In passenger carrying T3's, the seatbelt mountings are already there, so anything like a Combi, Westy, Multivan, Caravelle etc, basically anything that left the factory with windows in the rear has most of the seatbelt mounts you need.
My bracket attaches to where VW attached theirs, so models 253, 254, 255 and 256 my basic kit will bolt in and replicate what VW did.
For models that left the factory as Transoprters, 251 and 252, these left the factory as basic delivery vans, to keep costs down, and the fact that seatbelts weren't needed VW didn't fit the captive nuts to the van for use with seatbelts, so if you have one of these you will need to buy a pair of these

To be able to attach the belt to the body, not rocket science, just a little harder.
Fitting on something like a Westy should take about an hour, longer if it's a transporter and you need to start drilling holes.

The belt is far longer than a factory VW belt, so it will quite happily accept the fattest of fat b*stards as well as child seats and the like.

The real is adjacent to the engine bay lid, the shoulder mount is about just behind the vent in the rear pillar and the floor end mounts just inside the sliding door.

Mr Baxter,

You appear to be answering the question I was about to post!

I have two securon 3-point seatbelts for the rear of our van. I unfortunately got them from JustKampers (I didn't think to ask you for them!). My problem arises because the securon belts need to have the reel-housing upright to release the belt and I have a converted Transporter not a Microbus. The previous belts (too short) had the reel-housing bolted to just behind the engine vent grille but faced downwards to release the belt.

Do you know if anyone had used these 3-point securon belts in a conversion with a R&R bed in an ex-transporter van?

I will be selling the brackets separatley.
If you can wait a week I will be able to "launder" the belts sold to you and make them fit.
They go inside the panel, so the reel doesn't protrude into the van, you will need to either space off the interior panel to let the belt through, or make a hole in the panel to let it through.
The proper VW ones have a nice plastic clip/cover that tidies the hole up.
