Bad to cold start.

Post by CathandBeth »

Hi
Can anyone help me with my T25 diesel 1600 non turbo, which I am still having probs with after a disaster with a garage that misplaced the linkage on the wrong side of the gear box. I'm not sure if there's a connection but right after this it started not starting cold, which it has never done before, but starts fine the rest of the day. Got relay replaced and mechanic found a worn wire which he fixed. At the same time it sounded like the fan belt was going - screeching sound in low gears, so I got that tightened up, being told I didnt need a new one. All was fine for a few days, so we headed off on our road trip to france via Ireland and now we have the screetching and the non starting in the morning - tho so far it has eventually - tho for how much longer I'm not sure.
Thanks
C

Thanks Kit and Rob
Sorry for delay in responding - en route and not easy to get to wi fi.
Mine just has a choke - is that what you guys mean by cold start handle and advance lever thing?
No, the plugs havent been changed since I've had it which is 4.5 years. Is that it? wish the last garage had done that too.

Mine have been in for about 4 years now and are fine, but will need replacing before the winter, yes the choke thing advances the engine, my 1.6 is a pig to start without it.

When you change them, buy good quality. None of your 5 squid a set from fleabay.

Go for Bosch.
