Spcial VW lubricant??

Post by funkypaul »

Hi all,
I've just taken apart the ball joint at the base of my gearstick and now have in pieces to get it clean...

[IMG:800:600]http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k208/ ... kstuff.jpg[/img]

When I put it back together the Haynes manual says to coat everything in 'special VW lubricant'...what the hell is that? The parts are all plastic and the outer rubber case which holds it all together is, as I say rubber, so not sure what's best. My default would have been to use grease, but I know it's either grease or oil which don't do rubber any favours.

Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Paul

funkypaul,
vagcat for 1986 T25 lists Poly Lubricant 400g 251711130

Don't know if our (club 80-90) username and password should be shown on a public forum, so I will pm you with details if you need them.
