Single (twin choke) weber conversions?

Post by Taipan »

Hi All
I've been told about a conversion where you fit a single, twin choke weber carb on a T25 air cool. I can't seem to find out anything about this using Google, so presume its not that common a conversion? Does anyone know anything about this conversion? Is it better than the standard twin solex set up? Or is it uncommon because its not very good? Any info gratefully recieved. :)

JK do a single webber kit,
I bought mine from Street Style and Power, found it worked straight out of the box, depending on what size boots you wear you can get 25-28 gal from it, but you loose acceleration in first an second gear,s it works but not a rocket ship, originally fitted to the latter engines in Bays so I was told by Simon (toomanytoys) bigest headache when setting up is Type 4 engine fitted with twin vacum on dizzzy Webber carb has only 1 advance only so you have to find the sweet optimum blank the retard off or leave open.
Dont run a Type 4 now I converted my Air-cold to water and put in a smoker, aqs my sig indicates.

these single carb kits do really strangle the performance of the engine.
weber ict s are no better really.
the best kit (which also gives most mpg and power) is a pair of delorto drla or weber idf / ida, 36mm to 40mm chokes work best.
speak to www.raceshack.co.uk for more info
or jim at stateside tuning.

dont waste your cash on anything less.

It was a wsser boxer but still had the same hassles! Some people have luck with them and some don't and thats on lots of engines not jus Vw's even escort owners I knew have had probs with them! The twin Dells are a much more refined choice in my opinion I was tempted to try that but got a new van..
