T25 Weird symptom

Post by thunderz2000 »

Hi...Im a newbie here. Just bought a 1984 VW T25 high top. Passed MOT and is a Lovely van. I used it last year for a couple of weeks but it has been stood for some 6 months only running it up now n then to keep battery charged.

Took it out the other day and gave it a good run. I got up to 65 mph. Came to a very steep hill and at the brow she suddenly started to chuck out what seemed oodles of white smoke and missed like she was firing on 3 . Stopped in layby . no leaks not water loss no nothin. Started her up and she was fine. I have now tested her every day and have not had the s ymptom again. I havent lost water or oil.

Any ideas what it was as she still runs fine. I was kinda wonderin if water had built up on fibre glass roof rivules and on the steep hill it flooded down the back and it was steam i saw.....

Any ideas ?

cheers guys

sounds like steam.are you certain you havent lost any water.because it sounds like to me that your pressure cap on the expansion tank might be knacked.and allowing steam to escape.under pressure.easy fix if it is.buy another cap.but get one from vw or http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/

Stood for a while, :?:
Going up steep hill, :?:
Miss-fired or running on three, :?:

Sounds to me like "water in fuel".
Check filter.

other than that I do not have a clue
