Advice on removing the front grill

Post by irishkeet »

Hi all

Had another great weekend working outdoors on my van 'The Pea'

Enclosed is a photo of the front of my German import 253

Next weekend I want to take the grill off & spray/clean it up. Can anyone give me some tips on removing the grill. I removed a couple of screws and pulled it out bit, I see the headlamps are all attached by screws with springs, do I need to undo these first before removing?

Also the heads on the screws holding the lamps & grill are all rusty and Id like to replace them, any idea where I can buy these, Screwfix? or would I need a specialist shop.

Many thanks
irishkeet

S'cuse me for asking Irishkeet....I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will very quickly correct me if I am but....

You said your van is a german import...............yes

So why have you got black tape on the left side of your lights and not the right like mine????

Mine are LHD light clusters that came over with the van and are taped on the right so I can drive legally over here.

Confused..................and just curious

Irishkeet
I am right, if your lights are LHD then they should be taped on the right (looking at them). If not then you have got RHD lights and they are taped for Europe???
Think you should get it checked mate ok.

hi
no i removed a screw that was in the middle @ the top, my van is stored at a mates so ill need to go there to remove
Nearly took out the ones around the lights glad i left well enough alone now.
So when the grill comes out the lights will come with it? is there a spade connector that disconnects the wiring

So is this an unusual type of grill & headlight setup

many thanks for all the help
would you be able to send a photo of the while grill showing the screw placings
