Propex Heating

Post by creamcrusader »

Should Propex Model XP1 (I think) have an external/adjustable thermostat. It seems to work fine just no way of regulating the temperature

hello.... welcome

never heard of an "XP1"
is it a blown air heater?

can you describe it?

most heaters can be thermostatically controlled

Yes it is a blown air heater, red tin box with two holes in one end, air in and exhaust out pipes through the floor of the van. The badge on the side actually says Propex UK with an address of Leadenham, Lincs is this different to Propex Heating UK.

Sorry to be vague and apologise for seeming a bit dense but only had the van a couple of weeks and still finding our way round it!

then you will be able to fit a thermostat.

Propex or Heatsource do one for that model ... costs about £40

B&Q do one costs about a fiver or so.

you will need a mechanical not digital thermostat. simply interrupt the power supply with the thermo.

if you really wanted an digital stat (usually with 7 day programming) it could be done with a relay!

The 'x1' unit was originaly designed for B.T and was used on a 1 hour timing control unit.

I recently sent mien back to propex for a full modernisation this now allows me to use a modern propex thermostat
