eberspacher B1L problems

Post by TimL »

I bought and fitted the named heater, before fitting i had it serviced by eberspacher.they provided misiing bits etc so i had a full kit of bits. I fitted to their recomnedations
However the the eber ticks on start up ( pump is brand new)
the heater then fan turns and fires up producing heat for around 2 - 15 mins before shutting down i e flame extinguisher fan continues until cool. it has a thermostat fitted . Any suggestions why it only manages such short cycles? I have this rigged to the leisure battery which i have charged to count this out. it has a split relay fitted
bad earth , fuel starvation.
this is a topic ive been mailed about by others but dont have the solution :(

Does the pump continue to tick after it has flamed out??? and is there a lot of smoke??? as it could be pumping too much fuel and becoming flooded.

does it fire back up ?

is the thermostat turned up full to start with ?

are the flue and exhaust clear and not too close together

is the air intake clear and not too close to anything

run the van at the same time just to rule out a naff battery

tried the thermostat up and down
tried with engine running , makes no difference
the tick stops then cool down begins always.
it used to smoke badly but now has brand new pump an d no smoke.

could it be lack of fuel, the piping goes over the gear box wondering if this causes a problem
the pump is also angled as per fitting instructions.

any other suggestions welcomed

it fitted in a bay , so there is the gravity drop, the pipe then goes over the geAR BOX then on the chassis out rigger i put the pump about in line with jacking point closer to the heater than the tank.

the pump should be within 12" of the tank, they push, not pull......

sounds like the over heat sensor is doing its stuff.....
are you sure the heater output ducting is not restricted - it must be the full diameter for its full length, ie 60mm all the way, and not blocked? or blowing onto something close......

go look on the Wiki under camping inteior, for heating

the spares came from Leicester coach builders part of the company is eberspacher the guy John was very helpful.

the heater has no tube on the blower out end it goes through a cuboard and is finished on the other side with one of those directional nozzles that can be bought throug eberspacher
The sensor does seem to be doiing it job too eficiently like you say faulty sensor or my bad fitting of heater?
