The hose is the warm air pick up for when the engine's cold, it goes from the warm air unit in the O/S back corner of the engine bay to the metal shroud surrounding No.1 (front right hand) cylinder exhaust downpipe.

The air filter box needs a filter sharpish, and this WILL effect the emissions.

OK, the rubber flexy hose goes on the outlet of the air filter box, the plastic flexible hose goes from the warm air unit to the air filter box and the cardboard crappy duct goes from the exhaust to the warm air unit.

gal, just ignore the pipe and put the lid back on the engine cover.

the pipe collects warm air from the engine bay rather than -10 degree C air from outside, but with all the global warming it doesn't make a jot of difference, it is an automatic way of the summer / winter air intake in a T reg mark 2 escort

Dont bother with the long flexis.. it prob wont be an issue unless you get very cold weather or go to the arctic etc...

Fit a filter..

CO can be adjusted down, any mech with a few brain cells will be able to adjust it.. but if the carb has been buggered about with by someone that hasnt a clue, then you are going to have a fight..

give it a full service (oil and filters) with new plugs and dizzy and rotor arm.. ensure its timed correctly and the choke actually comes off ok..

Oh and fill out your profile so we know where you are and perhaps suggest a member or mech that can help you...
