Hi
Whereabouts are you going?
We found it to be no probs finding places to camp......you can pretty much camp anywhere!
No campsites in South Uist but there is one that we stayed at in Benbucula....only one to choose from and had pretty good facilities.
Harris and Lewis is very easy to find spots......find a beach and park as close as possible! (Virtually on it in some cases!)
If you need facilities then you will have no problem in Harris / Lewis.
THere are a few campsites dotted around but we didnt stay in any of them so not much help am affraid.
Have a great time!!
Shaun

Cheers shaun,
Don't need the facilities other than a laundrette to wash the little uns nappies every two - three days - and water.....

Have done a bit more research and happy that there are plenty of (un)official places where the few visitors who come across tend to stop.

Can't wait to get back over - last time we did it with a tandem and very lightweight - this time with 2.5 tons of van and I'm a bit fatter

Actually , thinking about it , there was one campsite we stayed on in Lewis.
Think the place was called Uig beach.
Was a great campsite with all the normal facilities but was on a nicely kept grassy area , virtually on the beach!
Sorry , have totally forgotten what it was called but pretty sure it was Uig beach though........Was the only campsite around there and would really recommend it if you are in that area.
We have got to get there again some day......am jealous!!

Have you got your van back yet and if you have, are you pleased with the result?

I know that feeling well, our van was away from us for just a week recently, getting a cab step and wheel arch replaced . . . it felt like a very long week!
