Drip, drip, drip...

Post by RedSquirrel »

Hi there.
Does anyone know if there's such a thing as a 'do it yourself gasket'?
I've got a niggly dripping leak and I think the gasket has gone.
It's where the water pipe joins the block under the alternator.
Thank you

It's got a VW motor, a 116.8 cubic inch plant, Michelin tyres, VW suspension, VW shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new RedSquirrel bus or what?

There's that Blue Hylomar liquid gasket:

It's probably on ebay as well. Have used it successfully (on a joint between one of the metal coolant pipes and the engine) when we put a new water pump on our van.

Thanks for the replies.
I've tried JK and GSF but didn't have any luck getting the proper gasket.

try instant gasket, certain haynes manuals even suggest using it in certain situations.

Instant gasket is a bit of a lash up. Use a cornflake packet as least its a pukka gasket. Ok it might have kelloggs written on it but its perfect in every other way. Its got the ideal qualities !!!!!!!
