Three simple questions on an '82 Westy LPG conversion

Three simple questions on an '82 Westy LPG conversion

We have lovable-but-thirsty 2.0 1982 air-cooled Westy. We also have a £1600 cheque from an insurance company for our little eurobox that was just written off after a botched theft attempt.

Sooo.....
Here are a few simple LPG questions if anyone can oblige - the idea being we can get her out more without remortgaging every time she's empty and also use her more as a daily-driver without the guilt of driving a gas-guzzler for short journeys

So three (okay so it's four) questions:

1) Is she even compatible for an LPG conversion?

2) Where do LPG tanks usually get positioned on a T25? She already has one for the fridge under the passenger-side sill - so I'm guessing a 'mirror image' of it on the other side is probably usual. Can anyone clarify this? We don't really want to lose any interior space.

3) What is the usual capacity on a tank? Likely range on a full tank?

4) How easy is it to switch back to petrol 'on the fly' if you run out miles from an LPG gas-station? (Our nearest LPG garage is a bit of a schlepp)

We're in North London so would ideally like to have it done reasonably locally so we don't have to fanny about with long-distance train journeys home while it's being converted.

Any help appreciated !!!!

YES

Usually under the RnR bed or in the wardroab uf you have one

3) What is the usual capacity on a tank? Likely range on a full tank?
Tank sizes vary. The most common one is 65ltr.

4) How easy is it to switch back to petrol 'on the fly' if you run out miles from an LPG gas-station? (Our nearest LPG garage is a bit of a schlepp)
Its as simple as flicking a switch or pressing a button

We're in North London so would ideally like to have it done reasonably locally so we don't have to fanny about with long-distance train journeys home while it's being converted. It can take less that a day for a confersion.

you will loose storage space, but not as much as you think if its done right.
underfloor tanks are not an option for road fuel on these vans, not enough clearance.( your domestic tank is only about 12 litres)

you will half your fuel costs.

LPG outlets are quite common place now plus you have a gas guage to see how its going, that, and a map of suppliers.. means I haven't used that petrol stuff for three years.

and, as you say... I get out more!
