16" westy pop top.

Post by ..lee.. »

how many proper 16" westy pop tops / turbo diesel were built, i`m guessing not a lot.

saying that it would probally make sence to sell my westy and my syncro and buy one ready done.

what do ya recon on finding one, and what sort of money would it command.

I have mine :D which i guess is the well known one

I have heard of one other in the UK but never seen it and seen one for sale in Germany; Mike Plompen was doing conversions to 'westyize' your syncro but dont know how many have been done; they are all LHD unless anyone knows different.

Doubtful for Volksfest but may get up to Vanfest later in the year; Volksfest (or is it BVF) has usually been on the same weekend as Syncropendence

just viewed some of the slideshows of syncropendance 2007 looks pretty extream in some parts, wouldn`t want risk wrecking my syncro but i`d love to do some gentler trails.

any events or meets nearish to me so i can go a look a wuss on.

A lot of the meets we do have varying degrees of off-road fun for all tastes; and its entirely voluntary  Some people just go along to watch.

Nothing planned at the moment other than Roger gwagen's meet in Devon next weekend which looks like it will be fun. Syncropendence 5 should materialise for the beginning of July so keep an eye on these forums.

I would go for anything more than a 225.

any reason why karl. i`ve tried 255/65/16 and they look the dogs "Balls" compared to 225/75/16 which i`ve also tried. i didn`t notice any differance in ride quality or gearing between the two.

i`d like 255/70/16 really and with those the gearing should be fine for a tdi, but at an inch bigger i`m concerned about rubbing on the front. i think you are safe to 31" on the rear but i dont want to lift it any higher than it is atm so 31" may be out of the question.

Lee,
I think ours are 225 70 16 and they rub very occasionaly but are no probs. They are bfg at and are as big as you can go without mods. I will check the size next week when we go to visit the van.

pete that would be great if you confirm size and if possible check where it rubs and when also ride hight would help.

looks mighty fine in yellow.
