RM2200 fridge spares - any ideas?

Post by fairwynds »

Hi all
my Electrolux RM2200 3 way fridge has worked fine for years. Now, when I try to fire it up on gas, the electric red switch that should 'tick' and flash if the flame goes out, doesnt! (tick OR flash). Every now and then it will for a few secs then it gives up. My 12v battery is in good condition and fuly charged.
Ive tried searching here and generally on internet re spares, but Im beginning to think there is an Electrolux conspiracy going on!
Any ideas gratefully received!
Im in Sussex.
Cheers all

We stock the new style ignitors, for the Electrolux now Dometic, it is the only one available now, you have to change the wiring very slightly but they work really well, £28.50 plus vat and delivery, this is a genuine new spare.

or try Ashbridge. It took me weeks of searching for a 220 v element for a 24 year old RM184. After being told by many suppliers it was obsolete I eventually found Pete at Ashbridge who knew exactly what I needed, sent it to me in 3 days and half the price of Gunzl.

Worth a call.

Check 12v supply to fridge.
Switches fail due to corrosion - make sure new switch is marked 110v, otherwise it wont flash. Be very careful connecting up a new switch, it wont work if the wires are in the wrong positions.
Short circuit on the HT lead or sh*t on the burner in contact with the electrode may also stop the ignitor flashing.
Hope this helps.

Spark can fail or become intermittent if the area around the gas jet and thermocouple are covered with carbon deposits. Also check the gap, around 3mm on later models and 8mm on earlier models. The jet, thermocouple and spark node can be inspected by undoing the screw that holds the complete assembly. Just completed overhaul on my RM212.
