Brakes... doubt it.. if water in carb then you have no power.. they like to run on petrol, not water

Yeah I can see the petrol going through it. There is nothing in the bottom of the filter. I have another spare one will pop it on.

after the weekend sage with redboxerk9, which had me baffled until the beetle rolled up... that rotor arm has gotta come off...

Seems I'm not explaining it very well.

Will try again tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

I think I might try matt the signs suggestion and put old leads back, just to eliminate them from the puzzle.

Thanks for the interest Matt.

I did like you asked and put the old bits back on. I did the cap first and no difference. I then put the old leads on, one at a time. Still no luck. So I guess I ruled out them as the problem. Finally i took off the week old fuel filter (the clear one with the orange vains) and noticed a watery fluid in it. :idea: So I then popped in my brand new filter and scooshed everything I could see with WD40 and vrooooom worked a treat. Petes a happy boy! So I took the van for a spin, got half a mile and the problem is back. No where near as bad though. I stopped in a layby and blew the watery fluid out of the filter and it worked fine for another mile or so.

If I keep this up and empty the tank of this watery stuff and fill up with more fuel do you reckon I will encounter the same problem or will it just be a one off. I didn't do anything else as Rangers was on the telly and so was the apprentice. I will have more time at the weekend.

As I said, water in the fuel....
keep doing that.. empty the filter (better to dry it out and swap over) and dont drive in the rain until the filler rubers are replaced and the breather pipes too...

My Volvo has just failed its mot, needing amongst other bulbs and stuff, front and rear brake pads, front discs and er power steering stuff as its inoperative!! Mate says to chuck volvo in the bin and keep the camper. So I will.

I have dropped off camper with him and explained in great detail the woes of it. And wouldn't you know after coming to a halt a few times it ran perfect all the way to the garage.

Will see what he says, I told him specifically to check the breather pipes and filler rubber gaiter thingy.

Would it be worth taking the housing off the top of the carb, getting a drinking straw, or similar narrow tube, and blowing hard around the top of the carb? Worked well for me when we had similar symptoms. Hope you get sorted in time for Volksfling.

Nice idea, will try that Tony if mate can't get it sorted. I sprayed wd40 in there and it worked right after that.

looking forward to Volksfling, my first meet.........be gentle :lol: Laura is quite nervous about it all, me I just hope we get there. :lol:

We will have our 5 and 3 year old boys with us, will there be much for them to do?
