my windows in the sliding doors rattle laods, and recently its really started to anoy me. The windows I have are:-

[img:640:480]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f206/ ... ows008.jpg[/img]
Fitted like this:-
[img:640:480]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f206/ ... ows005.jpg[/img]

they rattle when engine is idling, but often stops a bit when i rev the engine a bit. Go over about 50 mph and they rattle like mad. - well i think its the windows rattling at over 50mph as itcomes from that area, so unless its something inside the door its defo the windows.

Does anyone else have this problem? and what can be done about it?
You can see from this picture that the foam bit where the sliding windows has almost gone, so it is also drafty. Can you replace this foamy bit and how do you do it?

Kathy - have you tried bits of paper shoved in any gaps?? Or when it is rattling someone pushing/prodding/touching/ etc to try and stop the rattle??

Must admit, mine are very well behaved.....sure there's not sommat loose inside the door?

take care

aya, yeah we have, and it makes it better when rattling when idling a bit, but not the 50mph thing. TBH the other day when i was driving i thought the door had come open, you know that click you get? well it hadn't. Not sure if its since then that this noise has started happening when driving at speed. Beginning to think the rattling noise is something inside the door, but no idea how to check, or what to check. alex said he thought it might be the lock or the door, but that doesn't really help, and I can't figure out what it is. Driving me mad though tbh....
i think it could poss be 2 different problems, the rattly windows and something else.....

I had this rattling problem on my sliding window the same as yours. the glass was rattling on the metal frame because the fabric seal had rotted away. you can buy this strip from leasure vehicle windows and is easy to fit - mine nice and quiet now. phone them at 01536 266130 they were very helpful

My windows are similar too and have the same insert between them, am curious as to how to remove the glass in situ and replace the insert, or will windows have to be removed complete with seal to fit a new one?

Thanks Mark :)

have a look on this site - loads of rubber trim bits and foam - all you need to stop those annoying rattles and draughts!

think it's a window out job to replace the seals etc. though i'm afraid...
