Ignition barrel removal

Post by meggles »

How do I remove the ignition barrel from the housing. I've got a used barrel housing with a decent bearing but want to use my own key for it (obviously). The key and barrel on the donor housing are fine, and my key doesn't operate it so I assume it is OK. I'll post it for sale on ebay later if I can get this job done!
Thanks

you need to drill a 1/8 hole on the side of the casting, I don't have the dimensions with me, so can't pinpoint it. If on the odd chance yours was previously changed the hole may be there already, just put a small device in the hole to release the spring clip holding the cylinder in. Pull straight out, no worries it comes out in one piece, simply push the new one in now.

it's described in the Bentley manual apparently... which I don't have, sorry
