Bizarre Clutch Slave cylinder behaviour!

I have recently replaced my Clutch Master cylinder, due to fluid leaking into drivers footwell. On completion of this I tryed to Bleed the Slave cylinder to remove the air that undoubtedly would have entered the pipes.

I loosened the bleed nipple a good whole turn and pumped the clutch having fitted a oneway bleed pipe valve to the nipple. No fluid appeared at all in the pipe, so I shut the nipple closed.

The clutch appears to working fine which is strange if there is air in the system.

Has anyone experienced no fluid before or is that normal?

Would it be advisable to replace the slave cylinder?

Yes it is possible to bleed a hydraulic system without loosing a drop of fluid.

In some cases as the pedal returns to the stop air can be drawn back into the system, although various ways to avoid this can be employed to prevent this from happening . But if you have a decent pedal and the clutch is working I'd be calling it a good un...

PS, personally I' would be replacing the slave cylinder as and when it needs it.

I very rarely have to break into the system to bleed them after master cylinder replacement.
The pipe out goes almost straight downwards.
Once changed if you fill the resavoir and just jiggle the pedal for long enough the air that is in the system will work it's way back to the top.
Simple if you think about it.

As the man say's ... just allow some time, and gently tap the pedal.
