Wiring Dilema

Post by S.Richardson »

Can anyone help by putting up a photograph of the wiring to a 1.9 piersburg carb I have just converted from deisel to 1.9 wassboxter and got all the loom etc and terminal box but i cant seem to fathom out which cable goes to what , i have an Haynes manual but still cant sort it so if I could visually see the coding of the cables and connectors I could complete the Job.

Pretty Please :D

are you on late or early wiring and water system?

im struggling to find a picture that shows what you need, but basically the black wires are all just ignition live, the carb heater will be the larger red wire, and needs to be through the sender switch( on the metal pipe on early, thermostat housing on late) and relay, which will replace the glow plug relay in the electrical box in the engine bay, if you got the loom from the donor vehicle , its plug and play really, the fuel cut out solenoid, the choke and the other black wire all loop into the same ignition live (black) wire on spade connectors.

ill try and take a picture of mine later today if i have time

Its a D Reg vehicle and its water system originally 1600 deisel and I have transplanted a 1.9 wasser boxter engine in its place along with matching gear box, I purchased the job lot unseen so I dont know if the wiring and engine was out of the same vehicle but presume that it was.

The electrical terminal box and relays have been swapped over so as far as i am aware it should just plug in all the other wires matched up easily but i am left with 4 connections on the carb which i cant seem to work out goes were.

There is a pink cable under the base of the carb which I presume is the heater element but which colour of wire goes to this? also a black cable with a red connector on, which colour wire goes to this also somekind of solenoid or sensor on the side of the carb which colour of wire goes to this
There is also a push in connector at the top of the carb which colour wire goes to this,
All the black wires from the loom have yellow connectors some with spade ends and some with female connectors on the red wires from the loom have white connectors one female and one male

Thank you for your assistance your photo will be most helpfull
Kind Regards
Stuart

o, the pink is the carb heater, it connects to a wire of simular thickness, which will originate from the base of the relay, the other three connect to a ignition live, (which you can get from the coil,) all three connect together, so you will have 2 males and a female spade from memory, the solenoid takes a femaile spade the chocke and the other one the other two.......

i will try with the picture, but really its only going to show you what i have just said......

these are from a early , so slightly different, as the sensor for the heater is on the metal pipe in the center of the picture, but yours will off the thermostat housing at the front of the engine, however, the connections are the same at the carb end....... best i can do right now, sorry
