Seconded. Bloody disgrace. Someone comes in with a 20 year old van & they try to fleece them. Would be your good turn for the day, who they going to get next time?
Name & bloody shame!
The worst they will get is slapped wrists and you could get your money back, it also means no repairs untill apeall test is done.
I think alot of people do not understand these old vans, but MOT rules are MOT rules and considering you only need 1 forward gear in order to pass, I do feel some garages do try it on abit, especially if you do not know just a little at least about your own van, I mean surely it goes wrong all the time? no not really dylan has been a working van eg "back and forwards to random shops" for a couple of weeks instead of simply fingers crossed on the way to camping holiday and fingers crossed on the way back.
Last MOT I had three men bumped started it for me to move to the brakes testing area as the starter and battery had given up the ghost, and I was pushed down a hill to startup again after getting my certificate, they knew that I knew that old T25 have starter problems with bushes etc.. I would hate to do have to undo the driveshaft on the rear wheels and could most likely declare it "impossible" as if the are allen headed bolts they would need grinding off.
Fireworks or not, you should report this to VOSA as there is obviously a difference of test standards between stations.
Single mistakes can be made by MOT garages, but if this is another of a number of complaints agains the same place, then it may help VOSA to take some action and help prevent others getting ripped off.
NO PIES CAKES OR BEER LEFT IN THIS VAN OVERNIGHT.
