anti roll bar swap

Post by Frostbus »

hi
me again have replaced the antiroll bar on my 85 velle with a later type , straight not cranked links.
all seems to work ok but had to use the early bushes on the later bar.
Is this ok have not seen any posts regarding this problem and could not find any early cranked rod links anywhere!!!!!!
many thanks

GSF do the cranked rods I think, they're the original

Syncros are different to both 2WD ones

The changeover was at Frame No. 24 E 220 000 (Part No. 251 411 051 Cranked)

thereafter from Frame No. 24 F 000 01 (Part No. 251 411 051 A) Straight

I don't know if they are considered interchangeable, why the crank in the 1st place, perhaps you shoudl look closely, though others might shed more light on the rason for the change.

I changed the cranked links on my previous bus a few times with cranked one that I got secondhand. I dont think they are interchangable becouse of the different geometry. may find they they will snap because of the angle.

Rollbar

Post by trundletruc »

Have you changed the roll-bar and the links from a later van or have you just changed the links from cranked to straight?

If you have changed to a later bar, which I believe is thicker, you will need different bushes between chassis/bar and bar/link.The bar/link bushes are hell to push on.

I should think that if you have replaced the bar and the links you should be all right.?

Bushes and links are available from Just Campers.
