dg to diesel

Post by maddog334 »

Hi All
Can anyone tell me if it worth changing from a 1.9 dg to a 1.6 diesel, will i need the engine from a t25 and the gearbox bell housing, are there other parts that will be completely necessary, Wiring and cooling pipes etc i can alter no probs.
Its just my 1.9 dg has blown a head gasket and I am trying to find a cheap as possible solution , speed is not of importance i just want my bus back and reliable.
Many Thanks
Martin

you may find the battery to starter lead doesn't like the distance if its under the front seat.
Mind you saying that mine was a 2.1 and is tdi and is fine, but I believe maybe earlier diesels are stiffer to start when cold(?).
Also you'll want to insulate the "hump" in front of the gearbox,or turn up the radio!
Can't immediately think of much else...

Is it ok to use my original petrol tank for the diesel, I have just purchased a 1.6 diesel engine from a t25 , now looking for a bell housing and starter motor, i will prob move the starer battery into the engine bay .
Thanks
