Porsche 16" boxster alloys
Hi,
Just bought an 1.6d '83 westfalia.
New to the site and finding it a rather compulsive read.
I expect that someone has asked this before, however........
The bus on page 69 of camper and bus (may 2008) has a nice set of 16 " porsche boxster alloy wheels.
Any ideas on whats involved to get them to fit a t25? Are they up to the job? What tyres are needed for a bus of this weight? Do I need spacers to get the et back to normal? Is the pcd 112mm?
Thanks for your help.
Leaf
PS, used to own a beetle and veedubs all used to wave at one another. Do t25 owners too?

Porsche 5X130PCD.
T25 5X112PCD.
Adaptors required to fit them. The thickness of the adaptor depends on the ET(offset)of the alloys.
Ideally they should have an ET of approx 55 so then you can use 25mm adaptors to bring the ET down to approx 30
Also what is the width of the alloys?
If they're 7's or 8's you can use 215/55/16 reinforced extra load tyres.Readily available in 95H and 97W as they're used on people carriers.

That's my old van. They are Vw to Porsche adapters and are 25mm thick. The rear ones could have been shave down to 20mm as although there was a gap between the door and the wheel if it was parked oddly it just skimmed it although th e van is also lowered on a JK -60mm kit..
The tyres were 215/50 16 up front and 245/45 up back I think and they were the correct rating for the weight. And they cost me just £99 as the bloke couldn't spell Porsche he listed em as Porche..

Re: Porsche 16" boxster alloys
Regarding "are the wheels up to it?":
On the back of genuine Porsche alloys you will find a number along the lines of 4750N - this is refering to the (recommended) load capability of the wheel. On the Boxster and 911 alloys I looked at, this was a typical value = 480kg in real terms. No point having heavy duty tyres when the wheels you are putting them on have such a low weight rating. Cayenne wheels are the only Porsche alloys that reach commercial vehicle load ratings (8000N+).
What you need in reality and what you need for peace of mind with the insurance company are different things. Most T25s will not exceed 480kg per wheel.

Re: Porsche 16" boxster alloys
Hi,
I've just bought a set of steel PCD adaptors from butty - and very chunky they are too - 25mm with bolts and locking bolts.
Does anyone have any experience of fitting these adaptors to T25s, as I'm wondering which way to approach fitting them to the rear - do I need to cut-down the studs, or will they come out allowing bolts to be used? Apologies if this sounds a bit naieve, but I thought I should post on here cos it''s an issue faced by anyone wanting to fit PCD adaptors.
Any thoughts welcome

Re: Porsche 16" boxster alloys
Your wheels will have recessess between the wheels bolt holes on the rear of the rim,so if they stick out they should just disapear into the wheel itself ..... hope this helps mate ... Just remember to remove the drum screws ...dandelor wrote:Hi,
