Mine took everything that the Isle of Man could muster at Easter, and I was on the most exposed part of the site, and it coped no probs. I did use a couple of extra straps attached to 2 corners when it got VERY bad, but it was fine, no damage. Bloke next to me had to take down his tunnel awning before it blew down

Keep it real.

Anyone know if these are any good or do you have any recommendations.

I'll let you know for definate in a few weeks time, just bought one, arrived a few days ago and so far looks OK. Only initial concern was that it could do with some meatier pegs for the 4 main corner guy ropes but that's easily remedied!
We've had a tunnel tent for the last ... X? years, never ever had problems with it even in gales, a lot of it is down to pitching it properly in the first place.
.... and besides every other buggers got a Khyam!

We're doomed!

Lots of people had those new JK tunnel awnings at Big bang last weekend.
Looks very good,lots of space.
Jk had problems with their old tunnel awnings and withdrew them from sale.
The new ones a far better and stronger,we have the frame jk awning and we are very happy with it, no problems at all.

The JK driveaway awning (frame version, not the tunnel one) looks good and it comes in LHD and RHD versions - which means you can open the passenger door, and the bedroom doesn't get in the way - see pic ==>! [img:419:448]http://shop.justkampers.com/images/JK/J13641e.jpg[/img]

Got ours on Friday...the deal above....we bought it cos its big enough for us,the kids (2 teenagers) and 2 great danes, so overall we have to accomodate 6 adults.
Right...now for the erection!

The amount of space is unreal...once its attached to the van we will be laughing for space....appears strong, guide ropes a dashing colour of red, bedroom compartment is big, sun canopy bit is a good size.
The chairs we got with the offer are strong and appear well made, the little table attached will be great for a coffee or beer.
Re the white table, honest opinion.....its ok and i mean ok, whilst its stable etc imo its abit naff but for feeding the dogs at their level it does the job.
Overall we are pleased with it and hope it lasts a few years.
We also ordered the griddle aswell

My beautiful great danes

even though loads of people have recommended them, i have to say that the khyam motordome is totally and utterly fantastic...
arrived on site at 8.30pm.....just about stopped raining....said hello to everybody.....took awning from trailer & put it up in 5 mins, yes 5 MINS!!!!!! - I was nursing a vodka & coke by 9.00!
then all we had to do was put it in place & peg it down, we'd never used it before and had no instructions.
excellent piece of kit

has anyone ever seen a drive away or similar awning that would suit a green T5, easy to put up is a priority, age irrelavant, prefer secondhand, used or nearly new. I'm happy to modify anything I can find to suit my roof and needs.
Soz for hijacking will move to wanted if anyone wants me to.

just used our kyam motordome sleeper sat night for the first time. very easy to pitch with no wind but with a gale blowing it was a bloody nightmare.
once up it stood up pretty well as some tents weren`t up come the morning. still after a night back in a tent i can only say it was horrible compared to being in the van.
may concider swap p/ex small caravan.
or a wind free weekend.

AWNING Nightmare
Ok,
I got a Navigator XL with the van and its too big for what I want or need, it handles ok but needed the storm straps this weekend at or favorite site (the best site near Skeggy)
As I said we used it this bank holiday weekend in the wind and it was ok however it pulled the my Devon pop top away a bit.
A couple of Qu's
1/ Which awning will cover the full opening of the door on the Wedge, so not to catch and rip on the door when open?
2/ I want something to act as a porch for her in doors and myself where we can chill with el vino or throw up a sleeping compartment if we let daughter and mate/s join us
case of Smirnoff later
