I've got the engine out of our T25 (2.1Litre, Water-cooled, Engine code MV), and generally tidying it up and replacing many parts.
I bought a brand new thermostat housing from VW and was trying to work out the connecting pipes, when discovered the new and the old parts are different even although they have the same part number.

As you can see, the pipe which should connect to the Oil Filter housing has been blanked off on the new part.
The old part is "just" usable, but I would prefer to replace the housing as one bolt thread is knackered and one bolt snapped off when removing.
So the question is, what do do?! Has anyone else had this problem? What was the solution?[/img]

115 is obsolete, you'll have to modify the 115A part, can the blank be removed or is it a drill out and bond in a new pipe job, either way it's the only way forward till someone gets new ones made, alternatively try the german sites they may have stockpiled them like they stockpiled our square headlights.

The "blank" is molded into the material and I'm not sure bonding in a new section of pipe would be particularly successful. I could possibly use the old housing, but I'd rather not - if you know what I mean.
I think I'll have a scavange around some of the USA sites as this model engine is more common out there....
Van Cafe has the part I need.

The picture clearly show the pipe connection missing on the item I have.

Re: 2.1L Thermostat Housing - Help!!
As a matter of interest, following Simon Baxters warning (thank you Simon) that thermostat housings were no longer being manufactured, I ordered both parts from Just Kampers and their part number J12835 which I have in front of me, is clearly marked 025 121 115 and has the extra pipe connection. Price £19.55 inc.vat but plus delivery, so USA probably cheaper!!
