Limo Black tint - good or not?
Hi,
We are considering tinting the windows (all except screen passenger and driver windows) with limo black. Main reasons
a)privacy
b)shade
c)give the van a bit of a look.
Only concerns are
Will it be too hot in summer or will the shade actually make it cooler?
Will it be too dark inside?
Will it deteriate over time?
Also should it be fitted inside or out?
Thanks everyone!

it makes it cooler in summer, its helps stop the sun ruining the fabric on the upholstery, it makes it more private, i makes it slightly darker inside, bit like wearing sunglasses in the van, and it makes the windows more secure.
however it also makes seeing out harder at night ( but then you have mirrors on your doors to see when driving anyway) and you should also be aware that cctv cameras can see through it like it wasnt there,
its goes on the inside. Dont bother with anything lighter than limo black, its a waste of time privacy wise.
my old van have been limo blacked for the last 10 years, it looks the same now as when it was done, apart from the odd scratch here and there where things have damaged the tint in the boot.

I think that's only the drivers and passengers side windows not the side of van or back. I wouldn't want my side ones done as it could be a bit dangerous.

you can paint the windows sky blue pink behind the level of the drivers seat (from the "B" pillar" ) as long as you have two rear view mirrors.
the 75% rules only applies to the cab windows....

its very thin, doesnt interfere with louvre windows or sliders so long as you "paint" the leading edge with clear nail varnish, the varnish stops it peeling.
its the old story, you pay for what you get, pay the £££ get the good stuff, i've got mirror tint on mine it REALLY reflects the suns rays! the limo tint i had did fade! it was some cheap stuff!
if you're fitting it your self, take your time! its not a race, it won't go off, you want a pucker job, nice n easy does it!

I find my light tint is ideal, it provides enough privacy so that unless you stare directly in you find it hard to see the German Shepherd staring back at you or any shiny things left lying around. It also means that when you look out of the windows you don't get the office block thing of the weather looking overcast out side tempting you to spend longer inside!
Another plus side is that as the transition from cab windows to the rear windows is not as extreme and of course the safety factor of not overly obscuring the side windows.
I have chosen not to tint the rear window mind! I use to have a commercial van years ago and found that as cars drove towards you at night the light's would reflect of the rear tint back onto the rear view mirror and you would feel that someone was driving up behind you FAST!

It's nothing a great deal of time and money can't fix
