Very watery oil
Hi,
We have a 1.9 DG Known good engine(fitted last Wednesday) into our T25,last night it had a second oil change, today it has done less than 60 miles and the oil has turned to water.Fresh oil has been used to refill it (that does not contain detergent) and the engine sounds like sh*** the tappets wont fill and it sounds very poorly; could this be caused by an airlock? Any suggestions would be very gratefully recieved to why the oil is now water.

its done it again, since tea time?
something is getting in there then.... make sure the petrol line is blocked before the pump, physically, a bolt or sommats, so we are sure its not petrol watering it down

if its contaminated with water oil will usually turn into a thick whiteish gloop,
Not always and not straight away, just drained about 5 litres of water looking water (came out first of course) and about 4 litres of oil out of a Golf thing (head gasket maybe)
That said, sounds more like petrol than water...

the way i see it, its getting diluted from somthing, and lpg cant do it, petrol can, so make sure that petrol isnt getting as far as the pump, then it deffo cant be that...... just coz its switched off petrol, dont make it impossible that the petrol switch hasnt failed and letting it by to the pump, which is connected to the oil......
cant think of anything else to look at, oil dont go thin without help.
has it done it to the second lot?

ian What the blithering heck!!!!!!
does sound like petrol getting into the sump somehow. not sure what setup you have m8 but if its the standard diaphragm lift pump and the diaphragm or seal has gone fuel can enter the oil that way and water it down.
if thats the case the tappets will have been washed clean and could take ages to re-seal and go quiet.
hope you keep the faith and get it sorted m8 but in your position i'd have lost it and burned the b####rd by now
good luck m8 and if you need any help at the weekend just shout up.

I used Shell Rimula 15w/40 (for 3 years) ... a diesel oil which contains additives which High Peak Borough Council garage said lasts well when used with LPG .... there's something wierd affecting the oil, in 2 engines the same symptoms
.
I'll will be checking the fuel pump (i.e. blanking it for a test) and then the oil pump function later.
Cheers, Ian.
