1) Has a psychotic need to practice welding complex pipe-joins?

2) Has a psychotic need to stand out from the crowd (has succeeded there)

3) Has a psychotic need to create puzzles for motoring correspondents?

4) Thinks the JX air-filter is a thing of beauty and that all low-flying aircraft passengers should also get the chance to view an object of such perfection ?

5) Thinks that ram-air at less than 120 mph is worth a hoot of dynamic pressure (it ain't)

6a) Knows that cold is good, and the higher you pick it up above scorching tarmac the cooler it is (Mmm... might have a point there)

6b) .. and also likes the idea that further temperature reduction from wind-chill around that pipe is well worth the risk of being regarded ' a complete nutcase'

6c) but hasn't done the sums on drag of large diameter pipes at right angles to airflow at 70mph.

Perm one or more from that lot...

cj is right!! after 200km's on a dirt road i can get a good mug full of dust from my air filter box and my syncro has the high level air filter (up in the right hand vent)
i think the guy could have done a better job by putting the pipe inside the fresh air vent and down to motor.
such is life
he who dies with the most toys wins.
when im at those pearly gates i want to tick ALL the boxes!
you laugh at me because i'm different, i laugh at you because you're all the same!

Well, the diesel (JX) engine has an air snorkel in the l/h vent up to the grille anyway ...plus it has a cyclone filter, so putting the whole shebang on the roof won't make THAT much difference.

This fellow though has a 1.9 TDI in it + oilcooler + intercooler (water &air) ...so I guess something had to go and he probably thinks it looks "cool"

Gearbox is broken also, btw

what bugs me most about this ad though ...why do people take interior picures of their own cars through the windows ...fishy ...

Even with the cyclone filter taking out the larger particles, the element can block up surprisingly quickly in very fine dust, so that's as good a place as any for it. A bad exhaust leak can do it in less than a thousand miles!

Looks like there's also something on the roof further forward.. ?

A small oil cooler radiator ?
