Diesel timing
Hi,
I pulled of my cam timing belt (you know, the whole shabbang), to replace it with a new one. Then one of my kids managed to turn the pulleys all over the place, so now i am not sure how i should proceed.
Could someone tell me from A - Z how i put a new belt on. As i understand correctly, the timing needs to be perfect. I need a bit of details, as i am not a pro mechanic. I couldn't find anything on search.
Thx,
Dave

I want to know too so would you please post your answer on this thread.
All tools are special tools when you know how to use them without having to consciously decide which one to use for which job. That's why screwdrivers have such large handles - to hit things with.

You need to start with some tools for the job and not some bits of wood.

Lol....yeah, i used a bolt and some wood to hold the diesel pump at the mark. Then i used apiece of metal which fitted perfectly into the mark inside the valve cover. etc etc. Point is, it works. Proper tools would have been better, but i guess i couldn't wait for that.
Thx,

you're going to send the folks on this forum round the bend if you keep telling them you can fix a dub with bits of wood and string. Perhaps you could patent your technology or at the very least, show us what you have done and how.
Can you also make alloy wheels out of paper plates from the pound shop?

It worked fine. What am i suppose to do? Wait for the special tools to arrive.....the belt might have snapped by then! I'm not in the UK where everything is available see.....Norway might as well be Antartica......and the prices are sky. I am looking to buy a new exhaust pipe (from turbo). They want freekin 150p for it here!!!!!!! Justcampers sells them for 35p....
Looks like i have to make my own pipe this time.....stainless would be cool.
