Recommended standard 14" tyres - what brand?

Post by BassKat & Missy »

Hi there
I have to replace the front tyres (185x14C) on my 2.1 holdsworth vision.

I was holding out for some alloys but none have appeared at sensible money, so i have run out of time & tread!

So what brands give good grip/wear/noise all the garages down in Bournemouth seem to stock are own/budget tyres barum/sava/enduro. I would like some good quality tyres as its all that stick you to the road & the bus is a bit of a lump.

S0 what have you got - any good - would you recommend them?

Cheers
Clive

I agree with Hacksawbob, Conti Vanco's or Vanco 2's, you can get them sent to you from somewhere like E-Tyres, and then have them fitted/balanced locally, and still make a saving on 'yakky chung' no brand local tyre depot prices, and they are really good quality, quiet, good wearing tyres, of the correct load rating. :)

online tyres

Post by BassKat & Missy »

A quick update:-

I found this lot online www.tyre-shopper.co.uk

they quote £50 for avons fitted National quoted £64.90 which is weird as the tyres get fitted by a local National branch......

they have continental vanco for £52 fitted.

whatever you decide on, make sure they're 'C' rated (commercial) or 97 or above load rating, as std. car type tyres of the same size may well fit,
but are not really able to cope properly with the weight and side loadings of a T25, (even though some tyre dealers have told me in the past they will, as all they care about is a sale, not your safety) despite being commonly fitted by 'fashion victim', big wheel sporting, owners, who i'm sure this will upset! (like i give a toss.)
