Take the unit out and before you turn it up side down , give the back of it a good hoovering and with a good dry paint brush clean the cooling fins of the fridge with it..
Looking down the fridges flue there may be a wire bar with a twisted piece of metal on the end, take that out and hoover that out and using a babies bottle brush clean that out ,
at the bottom of the flue there should be a wee cover , unscrew that and using a little brush and the hoover clean around the gas jet ,
really just take your time and using brushers and the hoover clean as much as you can
right that done turn your attention to the pipe work and vent cover that on the van , again using a bottle brush get as much crap out as your can , same for the vent , if it helps take it off ...

when you've happy with it turn it up/side down and have a beer
it will make a good gurgling noise , bit like me pouring the beer down me neck

next day , have a good flettle with the hoover again and then refit it , check the gas joints with you choice of checker

try it on 240v first , it should make ice in a couple of hours , then switch it over to gas and again check its working and more importantly it not filling the van with CO

have fun 8)
