heater switch

Can anyone help/ offer solutions as a couple of weeks ago the heater switch (that turns the fan on and off and makes the air blow quicker or slower!) works sometimes when you push on the knob and stops when you dont especially on setting 3 I cannot turn the fan off fully when it is on setting zero it still blows very slightly
can any one help

These switches are a common problem I believe. Mine had similar fault and I replaced the switch. They are still available from VW dealers and although I cant remember the exact cost I dont think it was very expensive.
They are easy to fit but you need to take care when removing the heater control facia as the retaining pins are prone to breaking off. You need to lever it gently at the right hand top and left hand bottom close to the pins.

also look in the local scrap yard , same as whats on some other VW's
