ffs mark, let someone else cut the hole!

i wouldnt do it personally, the fibreglass is only so strong.... and cutting so much of it out will only increase vibration induced leaks in the future, imo

I put one in mine last year. It's a bog standard one that just tilts or you can remove the glass if you want. As its made for a car roof there is a slight curve in it (8mm) but the fibre glass pulls up to it easy. Its simple to fit. You have got to do it. It's well worth it. My high top has a flat section on the very top and I fitted it there. The sun roof and its frame have added strength to the roof. There is no movement anywhere even when its in the open position and your hurtling down the motorway. I used a hand saw and padsaw to cut the hole out. You need to support the bit your cutting out as you do it or the edges will tear. Mine goes the full with of the roof and is cut aprox 30mm from where the sides meet the flat top piece.

Pros,
Ventilation
Light (it makes the roof space seem much bigger and as weve got tinted side windows adds extra light where you need it)
To be able to lie in the top bunk and look at the stars.
To be able to leave it open then lock the rest of the vehicle up. Its hard to see it from the outside and nigh on impossible to get up there and it only opens aprox 65mm or less so is secure

Cons,
None. I repeat, none.

Will take some pictures at the weekend if you want.

Ah, I was very lucky there.
I was queing up at the parts counter at my local VW dealership and they had a flier on the counter which was for spares they had in the store room that they wanted to get shoot of. There she was, in a battered box that had been kicking around for the past 3 years. Everything was there and I got it for £30. Couldnt belive my luck as its a so called genuine V/W one. I had been looking around for one for a while. I knew what I wanted but was stumped with prices.
