knocking sound when clutch bite's on hill starts.

Post by eg0u3067 »

this also happens when reversing up inclines.

some one suggested a clutch problem, more common on reversing.

Can any one think of a nice easy way of fixing problem, maybe changing the clutch cable or something else?

Any help would be appreciated.

I may be worth having a look at the front gearbox mount.

Just a thought, could it be that the engine / transmission mounts are in poor condition allowing the assembly to move far enough for bits that are meant to be clear of each other to come into contact as torque is applied? Engine to chassis, exhaust to chassis perhaps, that sort of thing.

Check the CV joints/drive shafts for either worn joints or loose bolts
Keep it real.

Unless it's Aircooled you don't have a clutch cable. Could be a knackered mount or a contaminated clutch or a ... well let's hope it's the mount ey

Steve 'Gasure' is down Chester way ... not sure if Phil Pacman does em ?

You'd best get a definite diagnosis before you take the gearbox out though
