Gearbox Whirring.......... a***, Feck.

Its been doin it for about 1000 miles. Mmmmmmm. Do I source a complete recon or strip it down for a rebuild ? Recommendations please.

When puchasing a recon. Is there a standard list of items that are replaced or is it a lottery as to quality of 'if it ain't broke don't replace it'

Any recommendations as to suppliers of a recon 5 speed boxes.
Lead me not to temptation. I can find it on my own.

Recon. I'm on my second professional rebuild of my 'Velle's original 'box and it's still not right. You get 12 months' warranty with a recon and it's not much more expensive than having your original 'box rebuilt. If you avoid removing and refitting the 'box a couple of times, the extra outlay will have been well worth it...

Vege have a good reputation and a no-quibble warranty, try GSF for the latest price. Wish I'd taken that route!

Whatever you do, use the best gear oil you can find.

What do you mean by whirring, what's the symptoms?

You have checked the oil level?
