No hot air in cab

Post by 5potblair »

Hello everyone I`m new to these vans so I`m not sure where to start trying to fix this problem. I bought myself a crewcab pick up down on the south coast and when I was driving the 635 miles home I never once got any hot air into the cab. The floor was warm but that was about it! Is there a problem with the rods from the dash not moving the flap to give me hot air? I am a mechanic to trade but have never in my puff worked on one of these bad boys. Just so we all know what t25 I`ve got its a 1.9 diesel from a golf with a 5 speed box crew cab 1988.

Hi ya,,,,,,I would have to go with your first diagnosis regarding the flaps/control levers on the heater panel:::: so a dip under the dash is the order of the day if nothing else to eliminate this question.

Next question from us would be ,Is the temp gauge correct,,,,BUT seeing as you didn't mention this I would guess it is safe to assume the needle on the dash is OK.

And finally has the heater matrix been by passed for some un-known reason......Once again only checking these things will confirm the worst or the best of a bad job....

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH.....

Cheers for the info, I`m offshore at the moment so it will be first job for me when I get back on the beach. The temp gauge did go quite high, but I was climbing up the Shap summit trying to keep the motor in 5th and above 60mph. Backed it off for a few miles and it came back to what was it`s normal postition.
