bleed van up mr Baxters way heater work no problem needle sits in the middle on a run rad fan kicks in and out as it should be
couple of days later temp gauge only reads at a quarter while on a trip
if you leave the van on tick over heater blows cooler air rev and heaters warm up
another thing i have noticed is if you remove the rad cap off there seems a load of pressure in the system even if van has not been run for a week
its a 1.9dg 1982 got the metal rad cap on it
ive a feeling its the rad cap or has anyone got any ideas

seeming as the DG wasnt fitted till May 83, its poss that you have a retrofitted engine and the cooling system could be part diesel or converted Aircooled..
not getting heat et could mean air in the system and or a faulty Tstat..
pressure in the system could also indicate air in the system and poss a leaking head gasket...
check system for leaks.. have a word with Si..
