Recon engine advice

Post by sdavies77 »

Hi there,

My local VW garage have told me that my T25 Aircooled camper engine has seized.

After driving back from Cornwall our camper was parked outside in December and left until March - then when I tried to start it there is just a clicking sound.

Bump starting it resulted in the wheels locking up and thats when the garage says it sounds seized.

A mate says it might be the solenoid - has anyone any comments on this?

Im wondering what to do now - where to get a new engine from that wont break the bank too much - has any one got any advice?

Thanks

Hi - I should imagine that the first thing to do is to check the diagnosis....

There is a way to turn it by hand with a spanner using the big nut on the front as you look at it from the engine bay of the engine.

In the Aircooled you will have to spend a little time removing plastic and tine to get to it.

Someone a good deal more knowledgeable than I will be along, I am sure.

Is there oil in it??
