Oil light flashing due to snow/water??????

Post by Smiler »

Drove 140miles to the Techy weekend and 135miles back when the oil light flashed. It wasn`t a `rythmic flash` just a weak flicker, no buzzer, I pulled in and it went out but the engine was running fine with a steady temp` indicator.

I checked the oil and the level was ok, I think it may have been due to the amount of water, snow and slush we had travelled through for the last hour, could that be it?

She started up fine and drove the last 5miles home with not a sign from the light.

Thanks in advance

am hoping the answer is yes....as Ermie's oil light glows dimly then gradually fades out when she has got thoroughly wet and damp. I have a small leak in the windscreen seal.....cured it once but getting through again.

Ermie - steady temp, and plenty of oil.

I had something similar a while ago, cleaned up the earth points and that seemed to cure it.
When it stops making that noise I'll be worried. That means it's fallen off.

Yep, ours does this a bit. Glows dimly when VERY cold which doesnt add up 'cause that would be when oil is thickest. Not worried about it.
Are we going on anything else?

bad earth on engine, switch faulty, switch wire insulation cracked/earthing out on something..
Change the wire from pressure switch to connector on the engine.. then switch could be worth undoing the dash conector and plugging in if it hasnt been apart for years...
