We had a strong petrol smell which we put down to the fact that the tank on the van was 26 years old & probably had a hole in the top of it.
So last week we had a new Just Kampers fuel tank & replaced all the relevant fittings.
I filled it up to 3/4 full this afternoon it has developed a leak. Its currently dripping all that expensive stuff all over the driveway What the blithering heck!!!!
Just wondered if anyone else has had a problem with this tank. Garage are collecting tomorrow to see if they can locate problem.
I have a dreadful feeling the garage will blame the tank & JK will blame the garage.

You've seen the number of small breather pipes etc that are connected, or as the case may be are NOT connected.
I had a simmilar problem and found out during the last fuel crisis as I managed to get it filled nr Keilder and it started leaking, found it was a breather that had perished near the tank fitting (previouse owner fitted new tank with old pipes)

Hopefully they replaced the rubber hoses etc that connect to everything in there.. they are a pain but are essential.. and they need to be the correct size.. 5.6mm IIRC (could have been 5.7mm) NOT 6mm or 1/4"...... Fuel injection hose is available in the 5.6mm size, in any case it has it marked on the hose...

My understanding is that they only currently make replacement fuel tanks for the later vans, & the fittings needed to be changed to accomodate the new style tank so I took the safe bet (I thought) & replaced everything.
The dodge appears to be with how the garage secured the tank. They say when the bolted it back on, as it was different to the old one, they appeared to have made a small puncture in the tank & they are getting it sorted. But wont be ready til after the weekend.
Dan has said he is happy to camp, so we are just packing the car & hope we can get someone else to cook our food & chill our drink for us.
